Random bin picking is an automation solution in which a robot, equipped with 3D vision technology, takes parts out of a container filled with unorganized pieces and aligns them properly.

HUPICO has selected a number of products for bin picking from ISRA VISION:

MiniPICK3D

is a sensor system for the automation of sophisticated, robot-based bin picking applications, especially for the bulk separation of very small components with extremely short cycle times.

The system determines the position of randomly distributed objects at different heights and orientations. Intelligent collision avoidance enables trouble-free bin picking. Using state-of-the-art LED lighting technology, the sensor generates a high-definition 3D point cloud that enables the system to detect even the tiniest components. The automatically generated robot path allows the robot to precisely pick the components out of the container and place them in the predefined position.  Unlike with conventional separation methods, the robot can pick different components interchangeably.

is a sensor system for the automation of sophisticated, robot-based bin picking applications, especially for the bulk separation of small components with extremely short cycle times.

The system determines the position of randomly dispersed objects at different heights and orientations. Intelligent collision avoidance enables trouble-free bin picking. Using state-of-the-art LED lighting technology, the sensor generates a high-definition 3D point cloud that enables detection of even small components. The automatically generated robot path allows the robot to precisely remove the components from the container and place them in the predefined position.  Unlike conventional separation methods, the robot can seize components in various ways.

PowerPICK3D is available in 2 sizes to ensure an optimal emptying of a wide range of container types and sizes, from small load carriers to large pallet cages. IntelliPICK3D-PRO

is a measuring system for robot guidance. It is used for fully automatic removal of unsorted parts out of containers (i.e. steel boxes) by a robot. It assesses the three-dimensional location of the parts in the container with reference to a previously specified coordinate system. The 3D positions X, Y, Z and the orientation Rx, Ry, Rz of one or more detected parts are transmitted to the PLC or directly to the robot by the system. The system detects the objects down to the bottom of a container with great accuracy and calculates the possibility of a collision with the edge of the container or other objects during removal by the robot gripper.

The IntelliPick3D-PRO system includes a sensor unit and a PC. The sensor unit contains 2 cameras and a 7 lines laser projector. Each camera is aligned to the entire width of the container, while the laser is moved over the container.

The sensor is calibrated during the commissioning. That means the position and orientation of the sensor with respect to the application coordinate system is determined in the robot cell. This is carried out using a calibration mark provided for this purpose.

The robot cell consists of the IntelliPick3D-PRO system, a robot and a container with randomly organized objects.
