CUTTING AND WELDING TECHNIQUES

HUPICO is thé SPECIALIST in ULTRASONIC welding of plastic, in cutting and welding systems for textile, welding of pouches and cutting of food.

RINCO ULTRASONICS is one of the pioneers in Ultrasonic technology. Over 40 years, they have gathered a lot of experience and have developed a wide spread welding technique for thermoplastics, which makes it possible to produce large numbers at a time.

The company has of a lot of know how about this high-tech product. HUPICO has its own lab where applications can be studied and tests can be done. HUPICO also makes its own toolings such as the sonotrode or horn, the anvil, etc.

HUPICO also takes care of :

– after sales service

– advice to choose the right components and/or machines

– assistance during the set-up of the installations

There are several welding techniques :

Ultrasonic welding with RINCO

Ultrasonic welding is an industrial technique whereby high frequency ultrasonic acoustic vibrations are locally applied to workpieces being held together under pressure to create a solid-state weld. It is commonly used for plastics, and especially for joining dissimilar materials. In ultrasonic welding, there are no connective bolts, nails, soldering materials, or adhesives necessary to bind the materials together. Process times are very short, often less than 1 second. Frequencies range from 20 to 70 kHz. The higher the frequency, the smaller the maximum dimensions of the product. As a special weld construction is needed, the method is especially suitable for injection molding products. While welding the temperature can reach up to several hundred degrees (the melt temperature of the part itself). This makes ultrasonic the fastest welding procedure. However, this method is only suitable for relatively small products.

Laser welding with LEISTER

In laser welding of thermoplastics, transparent and absorbing parts are bonded together. The laser beam penetrates the transparent plastic and is converted to heat in the absorbing plastic. The internal and external joining pressures ensure strong welding of both parts.

Hot air welding with PHASA (plastic riveting)

Through this technique it is possible to connect 2 plastic parts or make a plastic/metal connection.
